This option only seems to work with GNOME-based Linux distros: for example, it works with Ubuntu and Ubuntu Unity, but doesn't work with Ubuntu Studio, which is KDE-based (no apps folder is shown in the Dock, even if the Parallels Tools are correctly installed). So, is this a bug, or a "feature" (rather, a limitation, in this case)...?

Upgrading Ubuntu Desktop from 23.04 to 23.10 results in the corruption of the boot disk and the attached screen appears. Does anyone know a solution to correct this ? I am running the latest version of Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro Edition on a Sonoma M2 Air.

I've been happily using Parallels 17 Home for legacy Windows apps for a while.

Now I'm trying to check if I can use Parallels Pro for academic research (Pandas, numpy etc).
For my project, I need a VM with 70-80 GB RAM and 3-6TB disk to fit the datasets. 8 CPU should be enough.
The "Compare Editions" page says Pro allows for 18 CPU and 128 RAM on M1. I assume there is no disk size limit?

But when I click Configure in new Ubuntu VM, for some reason it says "max 8 CPU, 8GB...

I have been wondering, if someone got the latest Kali Linux (2023.3) running with Parallels and Parallels Tools to enable functions such as clipboard and display resolutions?

Following image was mounted to CD-ROM:

I have downloaded the following versions:
- Kali Linux 2023.3 No Linux headers found for the kernel
- Kali Linux 2023.1 No Linux headers found for the kernel
- Kali Linux 2022.2

I downloaded an ISO of Ubuntu 24 but installation failed as an upgrade to Ubuntu 22 and installation failed as a new install. The installation froze on the screen titled "Develop with the best of open source" and I could not proceed and could not start the VM. Ubuntu 24.04 uses the Linux 6.8 kernel. I have Parallels v19.3.0

It seems like parallels or ubuntu f'ed it up by changing the gcc version. I was unable to install the tools and got the following error:

I have an Ubuntu 22.04 guest (x86_64 emulated version installed by parallels) which was running fine before.

I updated today to latest version and now the said guest is in a sleep status (hasn't been in the status before update).
When I try to resume I get an error message about CPU number is incorrect (hasn't been the case before) and that I need to change the CPU number before resuming the guest.
When I try to do this I find I cant because the guest is in sleep status...

Hi, I'm using Parallels Desktop 18 on macOS 12.6 using MacBook M1. I installed latest Ubuntu LTS and I have this problem described in the title -- I press [Shift] + [`] for tilde and > (right angle bracket) is rendered; same for only a backtick [`] -- < (left angle bracket) is displayed. The problem happens no matter which keyboard layout I use. I'm desperate -- those buttons are essential for me as a programmer. Any help appreciated!

I want to install this Linux distribution "Abalinux" https://espazoabalar.edu.xunta.gal/es/maqueta-abalar-libre/version-estandar
It's an ISO designed to create a boot usb with a live version, and inside it "install the distro using snapshot installer".
I try to install it from the ISO file but it's not be posible because Pararells doesn't destect and OS, and try it from a live usb is not showing as an option.

It's posible to install this kind of distros?

Parallels Desktop 17: Ubuntu 22.04 VM losts networking after Mac host wakes up

I just upgraded my Ubuntu 20.04 VM to v22.04, and notice that the VM losts network connection after the Mac host wakes up from sleep. The only way to bring it back is to reboot the VM. The problem does not repro with the original Ubuntu c20.04 VM. I have another Ubuntu 20.04 VM and it does not have the networking problem. Could it be caused by a change in the v22.04 kernel? Thank you.

In the command line its very annoying to look at the @ubuntu-linux-22-04-desktop. I changed the name in parallels to Jammy and was hoping they were linked but no luck. Any ideas if i can change this. I have parallels 18 for mac.

I have a guest machine: Archlinux (updated), parallel tools(added)
I dont know why but I have a graphics problem. The xf86 drivers I have installed are:

I am using a Macbook Pro M1 2021, and only using the built-in trackpad, to run a Linux guest.
I understand that Linux/Ubuntu has moved towards using libinput, and that this means that trackpad scroll speed is not customizable.
Further, the virtual mouse provided by Parallels is not a trackpad, and doesn't have configurable parameters.
It is possible to adjust scroll speed in Firefox. But not for other applications, such as VSCode, or Nautilus.
In general, the scrolling experience is barely...
