Error connecting to existing server

I have a problem connecting to an existing server.

The server is version 6.0 (build 421). I know it's pretty old, but it's for work and we're trying not to mess with what works, and this server works. This server is accessed normally through remote Windows desktops and laptops running clients 8.0 and 9.0 and have had no issues whatsoever in the years that it has been running.

However, on Android, we've had no success on a variety of devices and Android versions. The error is Code[1a/00000001]. The devices are on the internal wifi/LAN and have no firewall or unnecessary routing in between the device and the server. They can ping the server just fine, but the 2x application still complains it cannot access the server. The log is turned on at the server side, but shows no attempts at a connection, as if the 2x connection packets never left the device. Accordingly, changing user names or passwords has no success either. It never even attempts connection. As I said, we've tried on a variety of different devices and Android version numbers (2.2, 2.3.3, 2.3.4) and have had no luck. I even found an older 2X 9.0 apk, but that didn't work either.

Any ideas? Is there a setting on the handset that must be set first?

    Thank you!

    Hey Psyrex,

What is the 2x version installed on the android device though?
I fear that the version of the server also may be too old...
I know don't touch what works, but it may be a good idea to upgrade now...
Perhaps opening a support ticket also would be a good idea.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for the reply, Ginex.

The 2X on the Androids have been 9.0 and the last two 10.0 versions (there was a recent update, I think). My theory is perhaps that the 2X server is too old, and if this is true, I can put in the request for funds from the boss to upgrade it, but I kind of need to have some definitive proof first before I muck with a working server. Don't fix what ain't broke. I hope you understand my position.

My issue is that from the Androids, there is an attempt to connect, then says it cannot. Ping and traceroute and all that works just fine from the devices. From the server side, it doesn't even seem like there was an attempt at connection as nothing appears in the log! Usually I see the connection handshakes, and if there is an error, it'll show up. With all the Androids, I got nothing, and, therefore, nothing to go to the boss with for upgrades.

Has the connection protocol changed from 6.0 to 10.0 such that it can't even initialize the first exchange? But 10.0 clients on windows laptops seem to work just fine.

    Hey Psyrex,

i totally understand your position, and a part from suggesting you to make sure that the traffic passes through your switchs and routers without any problems, i was thinking that it would probably be a good idea for u to download ASXG on a virtual machine(the download is a free trial of 30 days) and see if u get the same result. There is no cost involved plus u can show ASXG(basically version 10) to the boss and tell him how cool it is ;)

I hope this helps, but if you still encounter difficulties with v10 testing the connection, i would suggest opening a support ticket at that stage.

    Cheers,

    Ginex
